The Joint Commission (TJC) conducted a for cause survey at Unity Center on September 18, 19 and 20. At that time, the surveyor identified two areas of deficiency that required improvements. The first area of deficiency focused on recessed rings in the floor of our hold rooms as posing a risk for someone to trip and fall. The second was the timeliness of hospital coordination of treatment and referral services for patients specific to rehabilitation, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology. We implemented remedies for both areas of deficiency.
Last week on November 2, 2018 The Joint Commission surveyor returned and deemed the mitigation for the recessed rings issue satisfactory. We are awaiting acceptance of the mitigation for the timely coordination of treatment and referral services.
